The N.S. Alexander Homestead is a luxury bed & breakfast in Charlotte, North Carolina, offering a refreshing new venue for your overnight stays and for weddings, parties, or business events for up to 225 guests. Your hosts, Donald & Caroline Naysmith, are the proud owners of this impressive landmark built in 1903. The home is one of the few remaining examples of Queen Anne Victorian architecture in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area and is listed in the Department of the Interior’s Register of Historic Places. Winner of Historic Charlotte’s Preservation Award, the home was restored to its original glory in 2008.

This is a historic jewel radiating that rare warmth and charm that time alone can impart. The beautiful woodwork has the patina that only a century can bring, and the ambiance is enhanced with the home’s eight operational fireplaces. As you step through the front entryway of this Charlotte bed and breakfast, a great hall greets you with an intricate inglenook to one side, complete with fireplace. The parlor pocket doors run as smooth as silk, just as if they were hung yesterday. Twelve-foot ceilings and magnificent seven-foot windows provide generous gateways for natural light. There are four large rooms on the main floor in addition to the butler’s pantry, country kitchen, bath, and enclosed sun room. Upstairs you’ll find four large bedrooms comfortably furnished with period antiques and beautiful Victorian coal basket fireplaces. In order to maintain the historic integrity of the home, bathrooms are located in the hallway, just a few steps from the living and sleeping areas. Robes and slippers are provided for overnight guests.

Adjoining the main house is the spacious Carriage House Suite; a 1,400 square-foot haven with a Great Room, full kitchen, breakfast nook, dining area, laundry, queen bedroom, and a Jacuzzi garden tub. The suite has its own private entrance, while offering all the amenities of the main house.

Located on five beautifully wooded acres this delightful estate offers a retreat from the ordinary – a place to relax and unwind, yet it is only minutes from uptown Charlotte. Guests can enjoy morning coffee on the expansive wrap-around porch overlooking the garden or in the bright and cozy sunroom. Each morning a full gourmet breakfast is served in the Dining Room, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres are served each evening. Homestead amenities include cable TV, wireless Internet, gift basket, and DVD library.

All-inclusive room rates range from $99 to $249 for double occupancy. Check-in is at 4 PM and check-out is 11 AM. Major credit cards are accepted.
